As the end of the year approaches, many of us are busy anticipating holidays in the coming months, wrapping up work projects, and even planning for the year ahead. But there’s one important item you shouldn’t leave off your to-do list: your dental health.
At Chestnut Hill Dental we encourage patients to take a moment to review their remaining 2026 dental benefits, schedule overdue hygiene appointments, and complete any recommended treatment before the calendar turns to 2027. By taking action now, you can make the most of your benefits while protecting your smile for years to come.
Did You Know Your Annual Dental Benefit Expires on 12/31/26 ?
Unlike money in a savings account, most dental insurance benefits do not roll over into the next year. If you have unused benefits remaining at the end of 2026, you may lose access to them when your plan resets on December 31. Your plan may include an annual maximum, a deductible, and coverage for certain preventive or restorative procedures. If you haven’t used your full annual benefit, the remaining amount generally doesn’t carry forward.
Think of dental insurance as a coupon toward your dental care—not a complete payment plan for your oral health. Your plan may help offset the cost of covered services, but it also has:
- Annual limits
- Exclusions
- Waiting periods
- Other restrictions
Your coverage is determined by your individual policy, not necessarily by what your teeth and gums need. That’s why we encourage patients to make treatment decisions based on their oral health first, then use their available benefits strategically to help manage costs.
Don’t Put Off Recommended Dental Treatment
Have you been told you need a filling, crown, periodontal treatment, or another procedure that you haven’t scheduled yet? Before postponing it until next year, consider contacting our team.
Many dental concerns are easier and less expensive to address when they’re identified early. A small cavity, for example, may be treatable with a filling. If left untreated, decay can progress and potentially require a more involved restoration or even root canal treatment.
Similarly, regular preventive hygiene appointments help remove plaque and tartar, monitor gum health, and identify developing problems before they become more complicated.
Our team can review your recommended treatment, discuss your priorities, and help you understand how your remaining benefits may apply. We’ll work with you to find appointment times that fit your schedule and help you move forward with confidence.

No Dental Insurance? Ask About Our In-House Membership Plan
You don’t need traditional dental insurance to prioritize your oral health. Chestnut Hill Dental offers an in-house membership plan designed to help patients without insurance access preventive care and plan for their dental needs.
Unlike traditional insurance, a membership plan provides practice-defined benefits and fees rather than relying on an insurance company’s annual maximum or coverage restrictions. Ask our team about the available membership options and which may be right for you.
Make Your Dental Health a Priority Before Year-End
Don’t let your remaining 2026 benefits go unused if you have dental care you need. December 31, 2026, is an important deadline for many dental insurance plans, and appointments can fill quickly as the year comes to a close.
Contact Chestnut Hill Dental today to schedule your hygiene visit, discuss recommended treatment, or learn about our in-house membership plan.
